Woven Together By Love

The traditional color for Ordinary Time, from Pentecost to Advent, is green. It is the longest season in the Church Year. These paraments for use during Ordinary Time are a meditation on the many shades of green and what they suggest of nature, seasons of growth, and the flourishing of creation. Bits of Pentecostal red and Advent purple also make small appearances. They are loosely inspired b the Appalachian traditions of weaving, sewing, and quilting. They are intended to remind us that we are enriched by many kinds of diversity and backgrounds. We are woven together in bonds of love, even in our differences. They use mostly recycled materials, remembering the Appalachian “waste now, want not” tradition. A special thanks goes to Pat Dean for the beautiful jacquard background fabric and to Jennifer Martin for installation.
