World Communion 2018 – West Africa

The large table covering made of strips of kente cloth given to Prof. James Fowler, from his former student, Anthony Ephirim-Donkor, of Mprumen, Ghana. While he was studying with Jim, he became the “King” of his village. After Jim’s death, his wife, Lurline Fowler, gave this cloth to our church. The artifacts on the floor, consisting of a wood carving of a man praying as well as baskets and a drum, are part of the African art collection at Rust College, Tupelo, MS, on loan to the Welcome Center at Lake Junaluska, NC. The stole on the carving is made from Kente cloth from the same gift that was left over from the construction of “Song of Justice” at the Welcome Center.
