The purple hanging, “Yet We Live,” was created from an Indian sari. It is overlaid with a scrim of netting through which is woven strips of dark cloth, creating a collage of crosses. It has been used in various installations, especially around Ash Wednesday and Lent. Below, on the table, is a fractured pot by Joel Queen, restored with the kintsugi technique, filled with twisted branches of the contorted filbert bush. Candles and bowls of ashes complete the arrangement for use on Ash Wednesday. For the remainder of Lent, the banner was lifted to a higher level above the altar table.
