Ash Wednesday 2018

The broken pottery and leafless branches remind us of a season of introspection and brokenness of spirit. The white candle holder in the center is a broken vessel repaired in the kintsugi tradition, reminding us that the flame of he spirit is still present. Two small bowls near the front of the table contain the ashes that will be imposed on people’s foreheads with the words “You are dust and to dust you will return.”
