Andover Newton Baccalaureate 2001

The students graduating from Andover Newton in 2001 asked me to help them create an altar as part of the worship center for their Baccalaureate service. They specified that they wanted metal flames, since it coincided with Pentecost that year. After much thought and searching the aisles at Lowe’s, I “helped” them create flames from copper flashing and screen wire on a copper frame. The flames are about 8 feet tall. We added candle stands and candles wrapped in red and purple foil. Flowers provided by one of the students banked the front. Following the service, every single individual posed with their family in front of the installation for a photo. I believe they found this very meaningful.
