Amick Table

In 2007 Jack Amick, a United Methodist Pastor in Michigan, and his wife, Susan, asked me to make a communion table patterned after the one I made for Tom Porter (the JustPeace Table). Jack had worked with Tom and wanted to put this dynamic of reconciliation at the heart of his ministry.

Before entering the ministry, Jack had worked with the US State Department where his global perspective and emphasis on the whole of creation had deepened. In addition to symbolism of communion and Spirit, we developed a spiral motif for the mosaic symbolizing the heart of creation and a simple (but challenging!) inlay of the earth, here in purpleheart, holly, and green poplar.
