Proverbs 9 declares that “Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn her seven pillars. She has slaughtered her animals, she has mixed her wine, she has also set her table.” She then declares, “Come ,eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed.” This is echoed in Jesus’s parable of the great banquet in Matthew 22:1-14 and Luke 14:16-24. Here, in a scene reflecting Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting, Wisdom presides at a table surrounded by a mix of people largely drawn from my friends and my own family circle.
