The “Woman Looking for the Lost Coin” is one of three parables in Luke 15:3-32 about God’s search for the lost—as shepherd, a woman householder, and a father. Here, the woman, sweeping for a lost coin, takes center stage, illuminated by a lamp on a stand. A coin is hidden in the fabric with other coins on the bottom fringe, reminding us also of how Wisdom is more precious than jewels (Proverbs 3:15).
