Colors of the Gospel

Four mosaic panels hang within “windows’ created within a tapestry weaving. Each of the four panels represents one of the four canonical gospels, with its traditional animal symbol. The human is Matthew. Mark is a lion. Luke is the ox, and the eagle is John. Other gospels, historical or emergent, are suggested by woven patterns and the inclusion of small masks and beads. They are all connected by a purple spiral path, which travels both through the weaving and across the mosaic. Presently on loan to First United Methodist Church, Waynesville, NC. 4’ x 5’. 2000.
