I made this accent lamp in a Japanese style for an exhibition entitled “SweetheARTS” at the Haywood Country Arts Council’s Gallery 86 in 2010. Some walnut pieces from the reclaimed tree I used in Aaron’s coffee table had lain around my shop for some years, waiting to find the right use.
I planed them down and set them in this three-sided frame, using cherry for the legs and rice paper for the translucent openings. It is 7″ on a side and 21″ high. I priced it high enough that it didn’t sell, so we have enjoyed it in our living room ever since.
