The green cross in the center of this piece occurs in a number of my works. It is part of my effort to reinterpret the traditional cross as a symbol of new life. The broken communion plate which becomes the central motif of this piece was originally sent as an ordination gift to a former student of Bill’s. The plate broke in shipping and was returned to us and subsequently replaced by the potter in Newton Centre, MA. I then used it to create a wholeness of vision from broken pieces. It is in my personal collection. 24”X30”. 2005.
